The Lalique and John affair was never something I planned or even thought about. I was actually working on Brian Ottomas and his first night as manager of Club Dante. John showed up (he'd been showing up at inappropriate places suddenly). Shortly after that Lalique arrived and flirted with everybody, in fact Brian's brother Dylan pitched a fit when she merely talked with John. I have no idea what his problem was. After that whenever I played the Lassiter lot John went around with Lalique in a romantic thought bubble. And I began to think...what would happen if a very happily married man developed a big yen for another woman, a younger woman? What reason could there be for a family man to become obsessed with her? With a young man, the main reason would probably be honest lust (men are from Mars, remember?), insecurity and the opportunity presenting itself. But with John it was fear of old age and death, and a longing to be young again.
As soon as they ran into each other at Goth's (which again was an accident) it was game on. Almost all of the public scenes where they saw each other were serendipity; I did not manipulate them. Wherever each of them went the other showed up. So I decided to go with the flow and see where it took me and my over-stimulated imagination. I was getting a little bored with happy, happy families. :D Anyway, while I don't necessarily want you to hate John, that is your choice. He was never meant to be a dirty old man, but, hey, stuff happens. He has always been a man who goes after what he wants though--he did with Melora--so this is not really out of character at all. This is one story where I actually followed their wants (somewhat) and then had to find a way to make sense of what they did...
Soooo, this poll became three polls which I felt was more fair. I wanted all options presented. My personal suggestion is that you read all the answers to all three before you vote on any, but whatever.
Remember, the polls are not to get your opinion on the subject of infidelity in real life; but simply to find out what outcome you would like to see for the Lalique-John-Melora triangle storyline. I’m not promising to abide by the results, but I’m very interested to hear what you have to say. If the questions are awkwardly phrased or hard to understand, let me know and I'll adjust them. These are the first polls I've ever done so I don't really know what I'm doing. The polls will be open until the 16th or 17th of January. You can choose more than one answer to each question. I don't know if that will help or hinder.
